The active present of the verb "to learn" means -
(1) Either you are learning to accumulate, to add something to what you know already which becomes knowledge like science.
or
(2) There is learning which is not accumulation of knowledge but a movement. I am learning something all the time which is always new and therefore action is always new. To learn about myself there must be freedom so that there is constant observation without the past, without the thought interfering.
